The Latest News for
Current and Future Instructors

The Ski and Snowboard School at the Pine Knob Ski Resort is hiring for the 2022-2023 season. Applicants must be 16 years of age and competent skiers/riders. No teaching experience is necessary.

Interested applicants should be skiers and snowboarders with solid skiing/riding skills who can be instructed on how to teach. An applicant does not have to be an expert skier/snowboarder; but must have good athletic skills, be able to communicate, have the ability to adapt their skiing/snowboarding style, and love to ski or ride.

If hired, instructors will be paid on a commission basis. Instructors need to be ready to teach at any time during their scheduled shift. Between lessons, they are free to ski/snowboard. Instructors will not be paid for the hours that they do not teach.

SNOWBOARD PARK SAFETY TIPS AND RULES
  1. MAKE A PLAN - Know each feature you will use. Check out the approach, take off, and landing.
  2. LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP - Go around the jumps first.
  3. EASY STYLE IT - Start small and work your way up. Know your limits.
  4. RESPECT GETS RESPECT. Respect the terrain and other people. One person on a feature at a time. Wait your turn and call your start. Stay off of closed features and terrain.

Our Heritage

We are proud of our heritage as one of the largest independent ski and snowboard schools in the United States. Founders Pat and Pam Deibel have enriched many lives through snow sports. Many dedicated Pine Knob instructors have developed passionate skiers and riders over the decades.

Our teaching system has developed over decades, working with individuals ranging from beginner to world cup athlete. We worked closely with the US Ski Team's National Development System, National Ski Patrol directors, US Special Forces, Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA), and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). We have also worked with resort trainers including those from Vail and Aspen.  We would like to thank former US Ski Team National Development System Director Walt Evans.

Our approach is highly effective and provides a unique advantage  that improves the quality and simplicity of our teaching.
The school is now managed by Jeff King, whose goal is for students at all levels to have fun and gain confidence, creating a passion for a lifetime of snow sports.
