ADULT RACE LEAGUES

The Saugatuck Brewing Adult Race League is a fun way for adults to enjoy racing together in a supportive community. Stay active, be social, and have a blast out on the slopes this winter. For both men and women, the adult race leagues include lift ticket discounts, a handicapping system that is beneficial to members of all abilities, and year-end rewards. The Adult Racing Leagues info and race results page includes Monday Night Pine Knob Slalom Sisters and the Saugatuck Brewing Race League. 

SAUGATUCK BREWING ADULT RACE LEAGUE

  • Teams of 3 to 6 members...need a team? We’ll find one for you!
  • Each racer will receive a permanent racing number.
  • Open dual courses...”Side by Side” racing.
  • With our computerized handicapping system, this racing league is open to all abilities...choose the handicap or straight time division.
  • $70.00 entry fee covers the entire seven week season, including the end of season Awards Night.

SLALOM SISTERS

Our Monday night slalom-only race program for women starts January 10, 2022 and runs for for six weeks. Enjoy fun and camaraderie with an energetic group of women who share a passion for ski racing.
​
​Cost: $350.00 per person.
REGISTER: SLALOM SISTERS

SATURDAY NIGHT SLALOM

Join us for the Saturday Night Slalom Series - a three series race held at Pine Knob Ski and Snowboard Resort for racers age 18 and up. Full Slalom Course, World Cup Point Series, and Straight Time. 
YOUTH: ages 17 and under skiers and snowboarder
ADULT: ages 18 and over skiers and snowboarders

2022 ​Dates: January 15, January 29, and February 12
SATURDAY NIGHT SLALOM SERIES

NASTAR

NASTAR stands for National Standard Race and is the largest public grassroots ski racing program in the world. Founded in 1968, NASTAR gives recreational racers an opportunity to compete and compare their scores with friends and family regardless of when and where they race using the NASTAR handicap system. 

When: Join in the fun at Pine Knob on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 – 3 p.m.

Cost: $20 for unlimited runs on any given race day.

Registration: Visit www.nastar.com for a NASTAR ID (Also referred to as a NASTAR registration number)
Registration numbers are permanent so there is no need to register each season.
 
  • If you have never created a profile before, you will need to create your NASTAR ID by visiting the REGISTRATION PAGE and follow the steps.
    • Registration is free. 
    • Provide the required information and complete the required waivers with your digital consent.
  • If you have created a profile in the past, you can go to your information and update as needed.
  • If you have created a profile in the past and either forgot your password or cannot gain access with the password you have, you can reset the password and get back in.
  • If you no longer have the same email address as you once did when you created a profile, you can create a new profile under a new ID if necessary.
 
Register for Races on the NASTAR website:
 
Once you have registered and have a NASTAR ID, you will then be able to register for races at Pine Knob after 9:00 a.m. on race day. 
  • Simply go to NASTAR and login in with your password. 
  • Click on the RACE tab and choose Michigan, then Pine Knob 
  • Select the race to register

Race Day Check-In and Racing:
  • Arrive at the Pine Knob Ski and Snowboard Resort
  • Check-in at the Pine Knob Ski School desk where you can pay your $15 and get your bib number 
  • Time to RACE!

THUNDERBOLT JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Explore your passion and the pursuit of excellence with Thunderbolt Racing
​Participants MUST be able to load and unload from a chairlift independently, have at least one year of experience with skiing, and be able to turn and stop in a wedge position.

THUNDERBOLT SUNDAY MORNING RACE SERIES

Participate in the competitive experience on Sunday mornings with our Sunday Morning Race Series. Combined timed racing open to all youth racers. Each week racers earn points towards the end of the season championship. Award ceremony immediately following each race. Open to ALL youth racers.

  • $15 per race (discounted lift tickets available)
  • Sunday Morning Race Series is included with the Thunderbolt Junior Development Program.
  • Registration takes place 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. at the Ski School desk. 
  • Racing starts at 10:00 a.m.​
  • You may register with the form included in the Thunderbolt 2021 Brochure.
The Sunday Morning Race Series travels between Mt. Holly and Pine Knob. ​

THUNDERBOLT JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

Our successful and most popular program is the Thunderbolt Junior Development Racing Program. This six week racing program will begins January 5, 6, or 8 depending on your preference. This is our base level of commitment for skiers of all abilities and race experience. It is for grades K - 8. ​​Explore your passion and the pursuit of excellence!

This program will improve overall skiing ability and prepare students to become serious racers. It includes balance development, gate drills, course tactics, starts & finishes, slalom and giant slalom training. All training is implemented using the U.S. Ski Team training standards. 

Participants MUST be able to load and unload from a chairlift independently, have at least one year of experience with skiing, and be able to turn and stop in a wedge position.

HOLIDAY CAMPS

2021 HOLIDAY RACE CAMP & TERRAIN PARK CAMP

Join one of our popular Holiday Race Camps in late December.
Choose the Thunderbolt Race Camp designed to give both competitive and recreational ski racers early season gate training and coaching, for grades K-8.
Or try the Beginner Terrain Park Camp to begin learning how to use Pine Knob's awesome terrain parks. These camps typically take place between December 27 and 31. Be sure to reserve your spot. For grades K-12. It's all about FUN!
